J-Quest is a new approach to Sunday School. It is a rotation workshop model which gives Elementary children the opportunity to learn in different styles and a variety of settings.
Why teach this way?
The more different ways children explore a story, the more it is reinforced in their memories.
How are the stories taught?
In rotational learning, the same Bible story or theme is taught for five weeks in five different stations. Each week, children “rotate” to a different station. The story remains the same, but children learn it in different ways. Then the next five-week lesson, the children will rotate to the next five stations.
What are the stations?
The ten different rotations stations for children are:
Science Lab
Computer Lab
Creative Arts
Sound Stage
Biblical Games
Movie Theater
Storytelling
Missions
Creative Cookery
J-Quest Specials
What does this mean for teachers?
Adults will now have two opportunities to serve: Shepherds: Your job is to build relationships with children in an assigned group. You will rotate to the different station each week with the children, assist the teachers, pray with the children, etc. No lesson plans required! Teachers: Gift-based, your role will be to plan and implement lessons for five weeks – the same lesson will be taught each week, just to a different group of children. If you love to cook, then the Creative Cookery Station is just for you. If you love working with computers, we certainly recommend the Computer Lab. All curriculum is provided.
